Good to know: Lift & Log has no account to sign in to and does not sync your app database to Lift & Log servers. Your local SwiftData store is the app’s source of truth.
Quick fixes
The app looks stuck
Close Lift & Log, reopen it, and try the action again. If the issue continues, restart your device and confirm iOS is up to date.
Data looks unexpected
Check the active plan, selected gym, filters, date, units, and whether sample data is present. Include these details when reporting the issue.
Watch isn’t updating
Keep the iPhone nearby, confirm Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled, and open Lift & Log on both devices. Start or resume the workout from the iPhone if needed.
A purchase is unavailable
Confirm you’re signed in to the App Store and purchases are allowed. Availability and billing are managed by Apple.
Before removing the app, read Data and reset. Reinstalling can remove local training history, and Apple Health is not a full backup of Lift & Log.
Apple Health permissions and sync
Apple Health is optional. Lift & Log reads body mass and workout records, and writes body mass and completed workouts with permission. Nutrition export separately writes dietary calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Watch reads heart rate and active energy during workouts.
- Open Lift & Log and go to Settings → Apple Health.
- Choose the permission action and review Apple’s authorization sheet.
- For body mass, use Sync Now to import or Export Latest Bodyweight to export the latest local value.
- For workouts, finish a workout locally before trying Export Latest Workout.
If permission was denied
Review Lift & Log’s access in the Health app or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. Apple may not tell apps whether read access was denied, so Lift & Log can sometimes show no available sample rather than a specific denial message.
If an export already happened
Apple Health records are managed separately from the Lift & Log database. Removing or resetting Lift & Log does not necessarily remove records already written to Health; review and delete those in the Health app if needed.
CrossFit WOD import
Automatic CrossFit Workout of the Day import is disabled in the current beta. Existing imported workouts remain in your local library. You can create a workout manually or use the workout import review to prepare and check content before scheduling it.
Local data, reset, and removal
Lift & Log stores its primary data locally. Settings → iCloud Sync shows planning and library synchronization status and any conflicts. Completed workouts, nutrition, measurements, goals, and Health records stay local. iCloud sync is not a full history backup. Update every device to the current beta so older versions stop uploading excluded personal records.
- Before an upgrade, reset, or reinstall, open Settings → Backup & Recovery and export a portable .liftandlog backup.
- Save it to a trusted destination. The export is plaintext and contains personal records.
- Use the restore action in Backup & Recovery to select a prior export. Review the replacement before confirming. Restore creates a rollback artifact first.
- If startup recovery appears, preserve the failed store and choose a verified export. Do not reset just to dismiss the error.
- Use available edit and delete controls to remove individual entries.
- Some development or testing builds include Settings → Developer → Reset Personal Data. This removes personal records and restores the built-in reference catalog.
- To remove the app and its local data from a device, use iOS to Delete App. “Offload App” may preserve documents and data.
- Device backups may retain a copy until the backup is replaced or deleted.
- Manage body mass and workout records written by Lift & Log separately in Apple Health.
Deleting or resetting local data cannot be undone by Lift & Log support. Keep a verified portable export before removal. Delete exported files separately at the destination you selected.
Barcode and label capture
In Nutrition, choose barcode lookup or label scan. Barcode lookup needs internet access to Open Food Facts. If a code has no match, enter the food manually. Check whether the result is per serving or per 100 g before changing Servings. Missing values must be entered from the label; use zero only when confirmed.
TestFlight feedback
If you are testing a beta, the most useful report includes:
- what you expected and what happened instead;
- the exact steps that caused the issue;
- your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch model and OS version;
- the Lift & Log build number shown in TestFlight; and
- a screenshot or screen recording when it does not expose information you prefer to keep private.
Send feedback from the Lift & Log page in the TestFlight app using Send Beta Feedback. On supported beta builds, you may also take a screenshot and use the beta feedback option shown in the share flow. Review screenshots carefully. Workout, nutrition, and measurement details may be visible.
Contact support
Email support@liftandlog.com. Please include the app version, device and OS version, steps to reproduce the issue, and the full error message. Do not include Health data or other sensitive information unless it is necessary and you are comfortable sharing it.
Support is provided by email. There is no Lift & Log account for support to access, and support cannot view your on-device app database remotely.
